Serenity Center for Well Being's menu of services includes:
Contour Threads: Introducing a new era in minimally
invasive rejuvenation techniques Contour Threads . Contour
Threads are the only non-absorbable barbed suture product cleared
by the FDA for the elevation and fixation of midface, brow and neck
areas. These specifically designed sutures are fashioned from clear
polypropylene, a material that has been safely used in the body for
many years in other medical products.
As the aging process begins, the skins connective tissue thins and
collagen and elastic fibers begin to break down.
As a result, these changes in underlying support structures appear
as sagging, deep creases, folds and wrinkles in the skin as early
as your thirties. Now there is a simple new technique that makes it
possible to rejuvenate and beautify your appearance.
A lift procedure performed with Contour Threads is a safe, conservative
and effective one that offers subtle, natural looking results. By
gently, shifting sagging tissues in an upward direction, this technique
allows the physician to produce a relaxed, fresh appearance while
preserving and enhancing the natural contours of your face. This procedure
does not replace a conventional face-lift; rather it offers patients
an innovative, minimally invasive approach with immediate results.
Sculptra: Sculptra is a synthetic injectable
material known as "poly-L-lactic acid." Poly-L-lactic acid
is biocompatible (a material that does not harm the body) and biodegradable
(able to be broken down by the body). Poly-L-lactic acid has been
widely used for many years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants,
and other types of implants.
Sculptra is injected below the surface of the skin in the area
of fat loss. Sculptra provides a gradual increase in skin thickness.
Visible results appear within the first few treatment sessions.
Sculptra will not correct the underlying cause of the facial
fat loss, but will help improve the appearance by increasing skin
thickness in the treated area.
- Sculptra is injected into the skin for restoration and/or
correction of the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in people
with human immunodeficiency virus.
- Sculptra has been clinically proven to be an effective,
well-tolerated, and long-lasting treatment for the signs of facial
lipoatrophy.
Q: Do I need a skin test before being treated with Sculptra?
A: No skin testing is required prior to use.
Q: Are the results from Sculptra immediate?
A: No. At your first treatment visit, it may appear that Sculptra
worked immediately because of swelling from the injections and the
water used to dilute Sculptra. In a few days, when the swelling
goes down and the water is absorbed by your body, you may look as
you did before your treatment. Sculptra takes time to gradually
correct the depression in your skin. Your health care provider will
see you again in a few weeks to decide if you need more Sculptra
injections.
Q: How many treatments are required?
A: Your healthcare provider will decide the appropriate number of
treatment sessions and the amount of Sculptra you will need
at each session. Patients with severe facial fat loss may require
3 to 6 treatment sessions.
Q: How long do treatment results last?
A: Treatment results will differ for each person. In a clinical study,
the treatment results lasted for up to 2 years after the first treatment
session, in most patients. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain
the desired effect.
Photodynamic Therapy: Stop the embarrassment of acne
without messy creams, slow acting antibiotics, prescription medication,
pain, or interruption of your lifestyle. Finally, there is a safe
and effective alternative to treating acne that also leaves your skin
looking more youthful and rejuvenated. This clinical breakthrough
has helped adults and teenagers win the battle against stubborn acne
and has quickly become a frequently recommended alternative by dermatologists.
Q: What is acne?
A: Acne is a disease involving the sebaceous glands of the skin and
affects over 80% of adolescents and many adults. During puberty, our
bodies produce large amounts of an oily substance called sebum. Sebum,
when combined with excess skin debris, sticks together in our pores
causing the pore to become clogged. Without effective treatment, these
clogged pores can become red, infected, swollen, and form unsightly
pimples that can lead to scarring. Topical creams can irritate the
skin and take months to work. Antibiotics can have multiple side effects
and become less effective over time.
Q: What is PhotoDynamic Therapy?
A: PhotoDynamic Therapy (PDT), also known as ALA/PDT, is a treatment
performed with a topical photosensitizing agent called Levulan (5-aminolevulinic
acid or ALA) that is applied to your skin and then activated with
the correct wavelength of light. These treatments remove sun damaged
precancerous spots called Actinic Keratoses. Treatments also improve
sun-damaged skin, fine lines, blotchy pigmentation, and rough skin
patches. PhotoDynamic Therapy treatment has the unique ability to
minimize pores and reduce oil glands - effectively treating stubborn
acne vulgaris, acne, Rosacea and improving the appearance of some
acne scars.
Q: How much improvement can I expect?
A: You will see improvement after each treatment. People with severe
sun damaged skin, Actinic Keratoses, rough skin patches, poor skin
texture, and uneven pigmentation may see excellent results. Treatment
improves the appearance of large pores and some acne scars. Active
acne can improve dramatically.
Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: To achieve maximum improvement for sun damage, texture and skin
tone, a series of three or more treatments performed 2 to 4 weeks
apart is often recommended. Some skin conditions respond with a single
treatment. Additional treatments can be performed as needed or to
maintain your desired result.
Radio Frequency (RF) Surgery: for changed appearance
around the eyes (unwanted bags, wrinkles, and excess skin around upper
and lower eyelids), as well as facial veins, moles, warts, skin tags,
raised lesions and pierced ear repair.
RF procedures use radio wave energy to make microscopic, cosmetic-enhancing
incisions without damaging surrounding tissue. RF surgery facilitates
a quicker return to normal activities than traditional surgery. All
surgeries are done under local anesthesia. Little if any, bruising
or swelling is common, so most patients experience a rapid, comfortable
post-operative recuperation.
Blepaharoplasty (Eyelid lift): A simple, office-based
procedure done with local anesthesia can improve the appearance of
your eyes with only one week of recovery time. Bulging "bags"
and excess skin can be removed from above and below your eye using
state-of-the-art radiofrequency surgery. By using radio waves instead
of a scalpel to make any necessary incisions, the surrounding skin
is minimally effected. As a result, healing time is greatly reduced
as is the risk of scarring.
Mole and blemish removal: Radiofrequency surgery can
also be used to removes moles and blemishes. Because of the rapid
recovery and the very minimal risk of scarring, radiofrequency surgery
is the method of choice for removing skin lesions on the face or any
other visible area. Sutures are not necessary, there is almost no
bleeding, and recovery is rapid.
Restylane: A cosmetic skin filler that restores volume
and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, including
fuller lips. Restylane is similar to but safer than collagen. The
effects last approximately 4-6 months.

Radiesse: A cosmetic filler that gives results similar
to Restylane. Results, however, last 12-15 months.
Botox: (Botulinum toxin A) is a safe and effective way
to erase the signs of aging around the eyes and forehead. Botox relaxes
facial muscles to give a smoother, more youthful appearance. It is
best utilized on the forehead, between the brows (glabella), or on
"crows feet."
Our expert aestheticians are well-trained and well-versed in the latest
technologies and treatments available, providing you with state-of-the-art
care as you enjoy a truly rejuvenating, medically-supervised experience.
Microdermabrasion: A treatment that uses microcrystals
to gently exfoliate the skin's surface while a vacuum suction removes
the crystals with the dead skin. This stimulates circulation and collagen
production, while helping to even out skin tone. Youre left
with new, softer skin with little to no discomfort. Great for all
skin types and anyone interested in minimizing the appearance of scarring,
fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, uneven skin tone sun-damage, dull
and lifeless skin.

Permanent Cosmetics: Also called permanent makeup and
cosmetic tattooing, it is the placement of pigment just beneath the
epidermis of the skin. Although the effects of aging, surgeries and
sun exposure may alter the pigment's appearance over time, it is permanent.
For this reason "refresher" appointments may be appropriate
every few years to keep your makeup looking its best.
Eyebrows: This procedure can add fullness and definition to thin or
sparse eyebrows. Permanent eyebrows frame your eyes and lend expression
to your face. Those with Alopecia are grateful for this "face
defining" procedure.
Eyeliner: Permanent eyeliner can be anything from a soft haze to a
darker, more defined effect. With this procedure, you always wake
up looking your best. This is the perfect answer for those with allergies,
contacts, movement, eye problems, or simply to save time.
Lips: Permanent lips can give you more fullness and definition to
the mouth, as well as correct an uneven lipline. It can even minimize
the appearance of wrinkles. Pigment can create a natural tone or a
more visible color.
Other Options: In addition to the most commonly requested facial cosmetics,
permanent cosmetics can be used for skin repigmentation and nipple/areola
re-creation.
- What to Expect: It is important to discuss your lifestyle and
expectations with your technician prior to having permanent cosmetics.
- Immediately FOLLOWING application: The procedures result
in visible redness, some swelling and occasional bruising.
The application of ice to the area can help reduce these symptoms.
- Up to one week after application: Most swelling and tenderness
will be gone. There will be peeling of the skin, and sloughing
off of the pigment trapped in the epidermis. As the skin heals,
the color will continue to change for the next few weeks.
- Two months following application: Healing is complete. You
may add or adjust your procedure to suit your lifestyle. The
application of sunscreen and good sun sense will help preserve
your makeup for years to come.
Q: Does it hurt?
A: Although everyone's pain sensitivity varies, the application of
permanent makeup involves minor discomfort when topical anesthetics
are used during the application.
Q: Is the procedure safe?
A: Your safety and comfort are our highest concern. Permanent cosmetics
are applied using the highest sanitation and sterilization standards
available. Sterile, single use needles are used with every client.
Your artist is gloved at all times.
Q: Are the pigments safe?
A: Pigments used in permanent cosmetics have an extensive record of
safety. Used in both medical and artistic fields for over 20 years,
their safety is undisputed.
Q: How long does a procedure take?
A: Although the length of the procedures may vary, as well as the
number of visits required, most procedures generally take less and
1 1/2 hours.
Q: Can I change it?
A: Although shape variations and color adjustments can be made, think
of your makeup as permanent. If you desire to change your "look"
from time to time, the use of topical makeup is more appropriate.
Permanent cosmetics are truly from "here to eternity." This
is their appeal.
Q: Is it easy to remove?
A: No. Although lasers have aided in the removal of brows and eyeliner,
lips require a different approach, as lasers tend to darken pigment
in those areas rather than remove it.
Airbrush Tanning: Have instant bronzed skin all year
round! Our amazing airbrush tanning system gives you an immediate
