The Science of Younger-Looking Skin

The Science of Younger-Looking Skin

Beautiful, dewy skin is something we all admire and want, but there’s more to it than the latest cream or topical formula that promises miracles.

Everything we know about making skin look fabulous is really based on scientific knowledge, and science-based treatments and at-home care products can truly transform your skin. Science is also at the heart of preventive skin care — think avoiding the sun, excessive alcohol, smoking, and other bad habits, while focusing on eating well, exercising, and getting enough rest.

With over 15 years in aesthetic medicine, Dr. Sharon Gertzman and the Serenity Medical Spa team carefully curate treatment offerings, so patients feel confident that treatments are safe, comfortable, and effective.

The science of good skin

Skin that’s lovely to look at, ends up that way because of self-care practices and scientifically sound, professionally administered treatment. For example, a product or treatment must be tested repeatedly to even conclude that it’s doing what it should do safely, whether this is minimizing fine lines, addressing deeper wrinkles, or taming a condition like rosacea.

Dr. Gertzman only embraces innovative products and treatments whose quality, safety, and effectiveness you can trust.

Treatments that stimulate collagen production

Collagen, a protein your own body produces, keeps skin firm and supple. Aging diminishes its production and, as a result, sagging, lines, and loss of volume appear.

TempSure™ Envi

TempSure Envi employs radiofrequency (RF) to reach deep into your skin, where collagen is produced. Once the RF energy makes contact with these layers of your skin, collagen production is jump-started, and it travels to the surface of your skin, minimizing wrinkles and strengthening your skin’s foundation.

Vivace™ RF

Vivace RF is another treatment that utilizes RF energy, but it’s combined with microneedling, a minimally invasive procedure where minute punctures are gently made in your skin. This combination stimulates your body’s healing response and collagen production to reveal firmer skin and furrows that seem to evaporate.

Laser treatments

Laser treatments use light to subtract years from your face.

Picosure®

Picosure laser treatment enhances your skin’s resilience and firmness, as a result of receiving a series of painless, rapid laser pulses on your treatment area. Picosure is ideal for removing sun damage like age spots, and for addressing acne scars.

Dermal remodeling

Dermal remodeling involves a series of medical laser treatments that cause your body to make more collagen, resulting in a renewed and refreshed look.

ProFractional laser resurfacing

ProFractional laser resurfacing is a deep resurfacing treatment that smoothes acne scars, deep lines, extensive wrinkling, and pigmentation problems.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments

Different from a laser, IPL treatment gently removes skin layers that have degraded due to sun exposure and reveals smooth, radiant, new skin. This treatment also helps with acne scars and can minimize sun damage on your hands. IPL reaches the deepest layers of your skin.

Photodynamic therapy involves the application of light-sensitive topical medicine that, when exposed to an in-office light source, protects against future sun damage.

Injectables

Injectables work in two ways, depending on the type you receive.

Dysport® employs neurotoxins that, when used appropriately, restrict facial muscle movement in problem areas. It works well for dynamic wrinkles, or lines that develop from repeated facial movement. These types of wrinkles emerge as a result of furrowing your brow, smiling, and squinting.

Results are noticeable within several days following your treatment, and last 4-6 months. Dysport’s popularity can be attributed not only to its effectiveness, but also to the fact that the treatment is highly targeted, giving you a more natural look.

Dermal fillers address static wrinkles, which develop due to collagen and elastin loss. These treatments smooth lines that emanate from your lips, address nasolabial folds that develop in the area from the bottom of your nostrils to the corner of your mouth, and more.

We offer many high-quality, long-lasting fillers, designed for specific areas of your face and body:

RHA Redensity is our newest hyaluronic acid-based filler line. Each is tailored to specific areas of your face, is FDA-approved, and is specifically designed for dynamic wrinkles.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a very gentle sanding procedure that removes your flawed outer layer of skin. It improves scarring, stretch marks, and sun damage.

Advanced skin care

Dr. Gertzman chose the best scientifically tested skin care product line to offer her patients — the ZO® Skin Care family of products. Whatever your skin challenge, these products correct it and are great for everyday cleansing and care as well.
