PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY — PENNINGTON TREATMENT

Photodynamic therapy is a popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure designed to remove facial blemishes. Many people have skin blemishes due to sun damage, redness, natural aging and a skin condition called rosacea. These blemishes can be caused by overexposure to the sun or simply genetics. With photo rejuvenation, skin along the face and neck can be treated to look younger, clearer and more refreshed.

Photodynamic therapy begins with the application of a cold photosensitizer gel to the area being treated. Then pulses of light are delivered through a small handpiece operated by the doctor. Within 20 to 30 minutes, the procedure will be complete. Some patients experience mild swelling afterward, but this typically resolves within 24 hours. Often, it may take patients a few treatment sessions to achieve maximum results.

Dr. Sharon Gertzman, a board-certified physician, will be able to explain photodynamic therapy in greater detail. Contact us at the offices of Serenity Medical Spa in Pennington to schedule a consultation.
